Incoming First Graders

 

            
GET READY TO DIVE INTO FIRST GRADE!


Are you ready to come to first grade at Pioneer School?



While you are having fun in the summer sun, you may want to do some things 
to get ready for first grade.  Here are some ideas:


 
:)Read, read, read! Ask mom and dad or a babysitter or older brother or 
sister to read to you every day! 



:)Practice your ABC's and letters and sounds.  There are many games to play 
to practice.  


 
:)Keep a summer journal.  You can draw pictures and stretch the words to 
write sentences.  Try to hear as many sounds as you can when you write.



:)Practice writing your name with a capital letter for the first letter and 
lower case letters for the rest.  Practice your last name also.


 
:)Write your numbers from 0-10.  Be sure there are no backward numbers.


:)If you know some math facts get out flashcards to practice them.  Say the 
fact and try to learn it.




Most of all have fun this summer and play outside and get LOTS OF EXERCISE!  
We want happy and healthy first graders at Pioneer School.  I can't wait to 
meet you!  You will have SO MUCH FUN in first grade!
