What is EDK?
EDK stands for Extended Day Kindergarten. I have the great honor of being the EDK teacher here at Richland. This is a program offered by Richland Elementary School to students that need an extra boost to get them prepared for First Grade! Based on their Kindergarten Pre-Assessment and other research based assessments, some children will be extended the invitation to join the EDK. The children stay for the afternoon after their regular morning Kindergarten. This program was designed to be "in addition to" not a second dose of their regular Kindergarten experience. We reinforce the skills being taught by the homeroom teacher, but in different ways to help ensure all the students will be prepared for their First Grade year. Back to Top

What is Popcorn Day?
4-5 times this year the PTC will do a fundraiser of selling popcorn to the students for 50 cents a bag. The coupons typically go home on Monday or Tuesday and if you return them with payment your child will receive their bag(s) of popcorn on Friday morning. You do not have to participate. It is optional and I have the children bring the popcorn home with them. We don't have it for our snack at school.Back to Top

Parents, and I know this is a tough one..., must wave good-bye and not enter the building with us! Sorry! When the weather gets bad or if it is raining one kindergarten teacher will be at the doors when the bell rings to let the children in.We will not make them line up outside!PLEASE WALK YOUR CHILD ACROSS THE CIRCLE DRIVE!!!Back to Top
