Track Calendar 2012

MAY 10TH, 2012--
All RMS track athletes are invited to celebrate the season for pizza on Monday May 14th after school. At that time, awards from the invitational meets will also be handed out. Please let a coach know if you will be unable to attend. All uniforms must be turned in  to be able to attend the party. Uniforms are currently being collected for all athletes who are not advancing to Sectionals.

We have enjoyed the season! Thank you once again to all of the parents and family members who volunteered to make our season successful.

May 4th, 2012
We are so thankful for all of the volunteers who took the time to help at our home meets. We are also very thankful for  the photographs that Will Anderson has taken at many of the meets. Pictures are available to purchase through his website.

4/1/12:
SPECIAL THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE SIGNED UP TO VOLUNTEER FOR THE UPCOMING TRACK MEETS! WE ARE, HOWEVER,  STILL IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS FOR THE UPCOMING TRACK SEASON! THERE ARE ONLY 4 HOME MEETS. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, PLEASE COMPLETE THE PARENT VOLUNTEER FORM ABOVE. YOUR SUPPORT AND TIME IS SO VERY IMPORTANT TO THE PROGRAM AND OUR KIDS. ALL PARENT VOLUNTEERS SHOULD REPORT TO THE BAY DOOR OF THE SHED BETWEEN 4 AND 4:15 FOR PLACEMENT. THOSE WHO ARE NOT SIGNED UP ON THE WEBSITE WILL NOT BE TURNED AWAY EITHER!  THANK YOU!
On a separate note, the meets this week may be a bit colder than the last few weeks of practice. We encourage all athletes to be prepared for the weather with sweatpants, sweatshirts, and maybe even hats and mittens. It can be pretty chilly up on the hill. Remember that undergarments like leggings, etc. worn under uniforms must be black. Athletes are responsible for having all uniform requirements and for demonstrating exemplary sportsmanlike conduct to all visiting athletes and their spectators.
Lastly, eligibility will be run on Monday. Athletes who are ineligible will not be allowed to participate in either meet this week. It is the athlete's responsibility to use the remaining time this week to raise any lower grades, so he or she may be eligible to participate again next week. Please remind your athlete that it is his or her responsibility to keep up with schoolwork. Meet nights are longer nights and cut into homework time. This is no excuse for falling behind, and it is not the teacher's responsibility to keep athletes eligible or update grades any quicker than they would normally to accommodate an athlete who has not been performing in the classroom as well as they may on the track.
High expectations breed high achievement on the track and off. GO BRAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Updated message 3/20/12:
Please take the time to complete the online Parent Volunteer Form above, if you have not already. In order for our meets to run smoothly, we rely on supportive parents and community members. The more volunteers that we have, the quicker events run leading to the completion of the meets in a timely manner. We greatly appreciate your support and involvement in the RMS track program. Have an adult friend who is willing to help? Please encourage them to fill out the form as well. There is no experience necessary. An explanation of procedures for each event will be given including how to measure, record, and run the event. Ideally, we would like to have at least two adults stationed at each field event. Not certain about the up and downs of measuring field events? Why not volunteer to be a timer? Most races need a minimum of 6 timers at the start/ finish line and timing is as easy as the click of a button! Again, thank you for your support.
