Have you ever imagined being an inspirational person in a childs life?
Consider becoming a mentor! A mentor is a caring person who serves as an
advisor, role model, and a trusted friend to a student. The A.I.M.S.
(Adults Involved with Mentoring Students) is a school/community partnership
mentoring program that is currently in nine schools within the Lake Park
High School feeder system. A mentor is willing to give support to a student
by helping him or her in the development of social skills and goal setting
and by being a friend who is a good listener. Students need the positive
influence and interaction a caring adult can provide to become healthy,
happy, and confident young citizens.
Is there training for adults who would like to become a mentor?
Before becoming a mentor, there is a two hour training session that will
provide information about the purpose of mentoring, confidentiality,
activities, first day suggestions, etc.
