Mr. Stout spent 27 years working in the automotive and truck parts industry
before coming to Spring Wood in 1999. At the present time, Mr. Stout
teaches strategic learning and American history. He is the author of seven
commercially published books on the history of American railroads. In 2001,
Mr. Stout was a finalist in the Golden Apple Competition for Teaching
Excellence, an accomplishment that would not have been possible without the
support and cooperation of the entire Spring Wood organization. Mr. Stout
is a resident of Bartlett, Illinois, where he resides with his wife of 34
years.
The goal for my classes is to make American history relevant for my
students,
so that it is not simply a recitation of facts and dates, but a genuine
connection between our country's past and present. In this way, students
will be better equipped to understand the issues that confront our nation
today, and how these issues came to be important. An understanding of the
past is critical to an ability to solve problems in the present and future.
