About The Teacher

I would like to welcome you and your child to my class. My name is Lesley
Fruth. I live in Red Bud with my husband Alex and our twin daughters,
Allyson and Lindsey.

I have been teaching for 7 years. I began my teaching at New Athens as a
kindergarten aide. I then taught second grade for two years. I resigned
after my pregnancy to stay home with our daughters. After caring for the
twins for a year, I began teaching at Valmeyer as a Language Arts aide.
This is my third year as the Kindergarten teacher at SJB. I am excited
about teaching your child and working with you this coming year

Rules / Positive Reinforcement / Procedures

Rules

Listen when others are talking
Follow directions
Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself
Work quietly and do not disturb others
Show respect for school and personal property
Work and play in a safe manner

Reward System

I believe that when you reward good behavior children will more likely
demonstrate that behavior again. Each day the children will have an
opportunity to receive two stickers for the day, one for their morning
behavior and one for their afternoon behavior. When a child receives 5
stickers they will get a card, with their name on it, flipped to the next
number. When their card reaches ten they will get a prize out of a treasure
box. There is also a class card. If everyone gets two stickers for the day
the class card will be flipped to the next number. When the class card
reaches ten the class will receive a party. Their sticker chart will be
sent home with a weekly report each Friday.

Consequences

There are times when a child must have a consequence for the rules they
break. I always give a child a warning and tell them what they are doing is
unacceptable. If they continue to break the rules they will get a fish,
with their name on it, flipped from green to yellow. This is a visual I use
so that the child knows they have broken a rule and will receive a five
minute time out at recess. If the behavior continues the yellow fish will
be flipped to red and they will receive a 10 minute time out at recess.
After a child has had their time out, their fish will be flipped back to
green and they get a brand new start. The children will have three times
per day that their fish will be tuned back to green. We have a morning
recess or free play, a lunch recess, and an afternoon recess or free play.
If the behavior continues to occur several times, there will need to be a
conference about the behavior. Each week I send home a weekly behavior
report. You will know how your child behaved for that week. If your child
did not break any rules and behaved well, that will be indicated on the
report also.
