When is the autobiography due?
This will be due late in April or early May. The rough draft of
the baby years chapter will be due in mid-October.
If I have a question, can I e-mail you?
Yes, you may. Please understand that it may take a bit of time
to get a response. I am not always at my computer.
Can students use the classroom computer?
Yes, they can. They just need to ask and only use it for school
projects or classroom information.
What can we bring for a morning snack?
Please bring nutritional snacks such as fruit, granola bars,
fruit roll-ups, crackers, and pretzels. Please do not send
cookies, sweets, etc.
What kind of book report will we be doing?
Each month the students will be given different ways of doing
this. Students need to have a new library book at the beginning
of each month.
When should family envelopes be returned?
Your family envelope must be returned by Wednesday so that they
can be filled for the next day. Please return tutition cards,
necessary forms, etc. I clean these out each morning.
When will the Friday folder come home?
We will try to send this home about every other week. It will
come home with the papers that we have completed. Some times it
will include a newsletter about all of our accomplishments. All
you need to do is send back the paper signed and the empty folder.
How is homework collected in the morning?
I will have the kids stay in the desks and collect it row by
row. This way the kids don't have to run around getting confused
about what goes where. They can spend more time preparing for
the day and staying organized.
What is the purpose of the weekly newsletter?
Each week the students receive a newsletter for the upcoming
week. It explains what we will be doing, supplies you may need,
due dates, and events in the upcoming week. It often asks your
opinion on something. Be sure to read it each week and save it
until the end of the week so you can check it from time to time.
Do I have to select a library book from the reading corner for my book report?
No, students are free to bring one in from home or the library.
I have quite a collection of books for the junior high and middle
school student. If your child has a favorite author or kind of
book, please let me know.
Will I see tests in English, religion, and reading?
Yes, I will send home tests to be signed. Please return these
promptly.
How soon do students find out when tests are or projects due?
Students know as soon as I do. I try to give them a week or
more warning about tests. With the reading projects or English
stories, I give them time in class to work on them and plenty of
warning when they are due. But with any assignment, no matter
how much warning there is-some students wait until the last
minute to complete it.
Can we send in a birthday treat?
Yes, please be sure that it is a wrapped treat. I would
appreciate if you would let me know ahead of time if you are
sending something in so that I can plan a time for it. Some days
are more heavily scheduled than others. I don't have the eighth
graders for art or computer this year so our spelling time will
be the best time to share birthday treats.
