Fifth & Sixth Grade Gazette

o Fifth Grade Classes
o Language Arts (Mrs. Bagdon)- There will be a unit test on nouns on Wednesday. Students will also present their folk tales to the class this week.
o Math (Mrs. Hamman) – This week in Mrs. Hamman's class we will have the Unit 9 test on area and volume. The test will be on Wednesday, May 30. The students received their self-assessments last week and should use that as a guide to prepare for the test.
o Math (Mrs. C.T.) – We will complete our final on Tuesday and Wed. We will discuss our summer packet on Thursday. We will wrap-up the year on Friday.
o Reading (Mrs. Bagdon) – On Wednesday, students will take a test on Johnny Tremain. Students will then watch the movie version of the novel. Through discussion, we will compare and contrast the book to the movie.
o Reading (Mrs. Wolff) – In Mrs. Wolff's, class we will finish reading Johnny Tremain and will focus on how Johnny has grown throughout the book.
o Religion (Ms. O’Brien) – This week we will learn about the support that comes within a family. We will broaden this topic and discuss the support that should be present within our world family.
o Science (Mrs. Hamman) – This week the respiratory and digestive system test is on Thursday, May 31. We will then explore the skeletal system.
o Social Studies (Ms. O’Brien) – This week we will be reading about our first President and the beginning of political parties. I want to thank the fifth graders for all of their hard work on the Wax Museum. It turned out great!
o Spanish (Ms. Monley) - This week, we will finish writing the end-of-the-year skits in Spanish. The students will perform their skits at the end of the week. I want to thank the students for all their hard work in class; it has been a great year!
Sixth Grade Classes
o Language Arts (Mrs. Bagdon) – Students will present their fables to the class using the Promethean boards. Students will also use the 'Comments' feature of Storybird to provide feedback to one another.
o Math (Mrs. Hamman) – This week in Mrs. Hamman's class we will solve rate and percent problems involving caloric content of food.
o Math (Mrs. C.T.) – We will complete our final on Tuesday and Wed. We will discuss our summer packet on Thursday. We will wrap-up the year on Friday.
o Reading (Mrs. Bagdon) - Students will complete an in-class final project for Stargirl. Students will present these projects to the class.
o Reading (Mrs. Wolff) – In Mrs. Wolff's, class we will finish reading The Boy Who Dared and Someone Named Eva, and the students will discuss the two very different experiences of the two main characters during World War II.
o Religion (Ms. O’Brien) – This week will be discussing how Christians were persecuted and then how Christianity became a formal religion.
o Science (Mrs. Hamman) – This week the respiratory and digestive system test is on Thursday, May 31. We will then explore the skeletal system.
