Message from the Principal
Welcome to St. Mary Catholic School, proudly serving Catholic families for more than fifty years (since 1958) under the direction of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception from both St Mary’s Parish of Plano and St. Patrick’s Parish of Yorkville. St. Mary School is part of the Joliet Diocese and is fully accredited by the State of Illinois. The faculty are all fully certified by the State of Illinois
St. Mary offers the students a rich tradition of Faith Formation and Academic Excellence supported by a competitive Athletic Program. Christ is the foundation of who we are and is at the heart of all we do. The students and staff attend Mass twice a week, participate in daily Religion instruction, and receive Sacramental preparation. The environment enhanced by the priests, parents, students and staff is a caring, committed community focused on respect for others.
The solid faith foundation and a well-rounded challenging curriculum are supported by a dedicated caring faculty and staff in a safe and secure learning environment. The curriculum includes state of the art technology, Art, Music, Spanish, and Physical Education Classes and a full day kindergarten program. Graduating eighth grade student are involved, faith-filled Catholics, responsible citizens and life-long learners with effective study skills. High academic standards result in test scores well above the National Average.
Our Mission
The philosophy of St. Mary School is to form a Catholic community where all children have the right to be educated spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and physically in a Christ-like manner so as to know and live the gospel as Jesus taught. Students live their baptismal promises by participating in prayer and the sacramental life of the church, fostered by the parents as primary educators of their children, the pastor, the teachers, staff and the faith communities. Students, based on their uniqueness, will cultivate a high regard for academic success by developing life long skills and problem solving techniques. Through the study of Scripture and the teachings of the Catholic faith, students also develop a positive self-concept, a sense of inquiry, and conscience-forming values that will motivate service to the church, the community and the world.
