SCHOLASTIC BOWL INFORMATION!
Scholastic Bowl is a competition which requires competitors to supply quick responses to academic, current events and sometimes socio/cultural questions. Scholastic Bowl is an activity which can be found in any high school.
At St. Raphael Catholic School, we became involved in Scholastic Bowl when we were invited to send a team to compete at Joliet Catholic Academy in the Spring of 2009. With only a little practice, our group of 10 eighth graders, competing against some 90 students representing other area elementary and Jr. High schools, managed to send 4 students into the final round of 10. Two of those students won. In 2010 we achieved even more notable success because our team was composed entirely of Seventh Graders. Last year, JCA did not have a competition, but we sponsored our own in-house game in May
This year we intend to start early in our plan to continue to have some fun and reach success. With that in mind, I’m asking all those students in Seventh and Eighth Grades who are interested in meeting once weekly during recess, to answer a set of questions that will appear below over Labor Day. Follow the directions when answering the questions to see what Scholastic Bowl is all about!
