I love to teach! Before coming to St. Raphael, I taught in Orland Park
for ten years. I worked as an aide for special needs children and I taught
first grade. First grade is my favorite grade to teach. I love to see
children learn how to become good readers and writers.
I earned my bachelor's degree in marketing and studio art from North
Central College in Naperville. I ran on their cross country and track &
field teams all four years there. From there I entered the education
program at St. Xavier University. I earned my master's in Elementary
Education. Education is a life-long process. This year I will begin work on my second master's
degree, Educational Leadership through Concordia University. When I finish my degree, I will also
have an administrative certificate.
My family is a very special part of my life. My husband, Patrick, and
I met in college. We married in 1994. We have three beautiful girls,
Kylie (13), Keagan (11), and Mckenna (7). Both Mckenna and Keagan go to St. Raphael. My crazy
household also includes two dogs, Sammie and Boston. We are very lucky in that a large part of our
extended family all live in the Chicago area. My parents live in
Naperville. They are both retired and enjoy their winters in Arizona. My
brother is married to an amazing fifth grade teacher in district 204. My in-
laws, who are both retired educators, live in Orland Park. My husband's
sisters live in Orland Park, Western Springs, and Naperville.
In my spare time I love to run, read, and scrapbook. With three
children and a teaching job there isn't much time for it, but I try to
squeeze it in when I can. : )
I believe that is my responsiblity to set the foundation for my
students as life-long learners. I hope that my students not only have a
passion for reading but have a foundation that is guided by strong character
and moral judgement. I hope that they are independent problem solvers that
use creatvity in all they do.
