NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, 11/11/09--Veterans' Day
ARGUMENT & DEBATE 2 (Periods 2, 3, & 8)
Monday: Complete Vocabulary learning activities for Week 10 words: (a)
Knowledge Rating Scale; (b) list of words and definitions; and (c) Concept
of Definition map on your assigned word. Also, complete the ACT English
Test practice passage.
Tuesday: Complete the Keyword reading-strategy activity in response to the
assigned reading.
Thursday: Read the article on service learning and complete the Active
Reading Guide questions.
Friday: Vocabulary Quiz on Week 10 words. Also, Complete the sentence
combining handout on relative (adjective) clauses.
IB SR. ENGLISH/WORLD LIT. (Period 5)
Monday: Vocabulary List #10 is due. Complete the quickwrite in class on
Hamlet's soliloquy in Act 1, Scene 2.
Tuesday: Read Act 1 of "Hamlet." Quickwrite may be assigned on Act 1,
Scene 3 study guide question(s).
Thursday: Read Act 1, Scenes 4-5 of "Hamlet." Quickwrite may be assigned
on these scenes.
Friday: Vocabulary Quiz on Week 10 words. Read Act 2 of "Hamlet."
Commentary #3 is due next Friday (see below).
N.B.: Extracts for Commentary # 3 were distributed last week. The
commentary will be due on Friday, 11/20/09. Submissions to the "turnitin"
website will be due by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, 12/1/09.
IB JR. English/BRITISH LIT. (Period 6)
Monday: Vocabulary List #10 is due. Grammar Exercises also due: Chapter
5, Exs. 1-2 (pp. 82-84). Also, several Work Keys Reading for Information
practice passages will be assigned in class to familiarize students with
test's format and purpose.
Tuesday: Work Keys Reading for Information practice (diagnostic) exam will
be administered. [This counts as a class participation (and not a test)
grade.]
Thursday: Reading Quiz on Part 1 of "The Metamorphosis" will be
administered. Copies of Part 2 will be distributed; the quiz on Part 2 will
be given next Wednesday, 11/18/09.
Friday: Vocabulary Quiz on Week 10 words. Grammar Exercises due: Chapter
5, Exs. 3 & 4, pp. 85-86. Essay on "The Stranger" is due next Friday,
11/20/09. Submissions to the "turnitin" website must be completed by 11:59
p.m. on Tuesday, 12/1/09.
