Homework

  
      The major unit theme or semester theme is self-awareness of "man". All 
classes will become aware of self-identity and journey of oneself and of the 
major characters' journeys in the genres of literature. This awareness or 
analysis of oneself with be accomplished through various forms of essay 
writing, reading, notetaking, class discussions, research, and use of 
technology.
      Being aware of oneself creates the understanding of the uniqueness of 
many cultures and the discrimination/stereotyping which pursues throughout 
many eras.  This is the second major purpose the all classes except Chicago 
Literature will use only Chicago history and Chicago authors. 
      The second semester will continue these themes and 20th century authors 
for the seniors in Chicago Literature.
      College Preparatory class and World Literature will concentrate on 
college prepratory and world literature. Course description is in the 
syllabus. 
      All classes received vocabulary words to study and write sentences. 
Words should be used daily in speaking and writing.
      World Lit. has to choose 3 colleges and one essay application. Also, 
enter Zinch. Com.  Write first essay and sign syllabus with parents.
      Chicago Lit. wrote first essay, highlighted Native American lit. notes 
and should have Cornell notes in notebooks from handouts.
       World Literature is presently reading "Gilgamesh" with relating 
homework handouts. All college essays should have been sent to the choice of 
universities or colleges.
       Chicago Literature is presently reading The Jungle by Upton Sinclair 
with relating homework handouts including reading a chapter a night.
