                     Volunteer with Chicago Cares!
Youth ages 16 and up are invited to attend designated ongoing monthly
programs. These projects are marked with a special 16+ symbol. Youth
younger than 16 must attend a project with an adult and can only attend
projects designated with the ages symbol in our monthly calendar.

You may beautify a park, cook breakfast for hungry seniors, help sort food
at a food bank, or complete one of several other of our ongoing programs.

Volunteering with Chicago Cares looks great on a college application, helps
you meet new friends, allows you to explore new parts of the city, and is
fun!

Get Started! Complete our quick online Orientation and fill out a youth
waiver. Please note: the waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian and
brought to each project.

After you complete orientation, you may access the online calendar where
you'll see all the projects you can complete as a youth. Look for the round
circles with ages in them - that will tell you which project you can attend
as a youth. Just contact the team leader (a Team Coordinator) and bring your
youth waiver to your project.http://www.chicagocares.org/YIS_indivyouth.html

Earn ONE HOUR for every 3,000 rice donations. - Yes, the first time you
earned ONE HOUR for ONE THOUSAND but that was too easy (and you students are
to good). So spend some time - donate rice to people who really need it and
improve your skills!http://www.freerice.com

  Hey - Animal Lovers
The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on
it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to
abused and neglected animals.
It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the purple
box 'fund food for animals' for free. There is NO cost; corporate
sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to
abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.
This is not a Service Learning project but you could create your own
project by advertising this site, working in an animal selter, food drive
for pet shelters - etc.  There are suggestions on the site for S.L. ideas;
create a project and let me know about it.http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com
