Mission For The Class

WORLD LITERATURE/ENGLISH IV
Seniors need to be prepapred for college or whatever awaits them after high
school. The mission of this class is to improve student skills in reading
comprehension, vocabulary and writing ability. The class asks students to
think critically and to express their thoughts in a variety of ways,
including essays, performances, speeches, drawings, research papers, Power
Point presentations and classroom discussions. Students will also learn
discipline, responsibility, and respect, which are necessary skills for
success in life no matter what future paths the students may take.

The teacher's job is to provide the students with the opportunities needed to
reach these goals and work collaboratively with all students to ensure
success.

Shakespeare Studies:
Shakespeare studies is an honors level course designed to explore the plays,
sonnets and time period of William Shakespeare. In addition to reading these
works, students in the class will be required to participate, getting up on
their feet and expressing themselves. The class will incorporate film as
well as visits to live theater to experience Shakespeare's works as they were
intended - in the theater!

The course requires a research paper and a project demonstration at the
culmination of the class.
