Exploratory Classes

The purpose of Exploratory classes is to expose students to a variety of concepts in high interest areas (academic, vocational, fine arts, etc.)

Exploratory Classes will be offered for 7th and 8th grade students, every other day. Students will go to computer class on the off days.

 

The following classes will be taught during the 2009-2010 school year:

Consumer Education:

 

 

 

The following classes were taught during the 2008-2009 school year to both grade levels, one per nine weeks. These will be repeated during the 2010-2011 school year:

Drama - Introduction to theatre (stage directions, acting techniques, script writing, performance)

Current Events - Exposure to current U.S. and world news (newspapers, Internet, news magazines for kids)

Careers - Path to a career (career choices, completing an application, high school and college requirements, guest speakers)

Potpourri - Mini-units on various topics (student-generated ideas, extensions of class discussion)

All classes are required and will be graded in areas such as: class participation, effort, in-class work and projects. There will be no tests or outside homework unless students would be asked to research a topic during computer class. Good behavior is expected each day.
