STUDENT ASSIGNMENT PLANNER:
Each student will be given a School Assignment Planner. Your child will
write down assignments, projects, and other important information. Please
look it over each night and sign at the bottom of the page. This plan book
is also convenient for parent/teacher communication. If you have a quick
question for me, feel free to write it in your childs plan book. I look at
the plan books each morning and will reply at that time. I will also call
you if further explanation is needed to answer the question.
READING A-Z:
Your child will also be receiving a "paper book" from http://www.readinga-
z.com/.Some stories are fiction and others are nonfiction. The books will be
sent home in a plastic bag labeled with your child's name. Your child should
read this book MORE THAN ONCE in order to increase fluency. This book is at
his/her reading level.
If you feel that the book assigned to your child is too easy or too
difficult, please write me a note and place it in his/her plastic bag. A
book will be given to students on Mondays. They should return the book on
Wednesdays.
Frog Game:
Each Wednesday, your child will get a Frog Game. For the first semester,
these games will have the children practice reading skills. The second
semester, the games will have the children practice math skills. The
children are to play the game with another person at least one time each
night (Wednesday and Thursday) and return the game to school on Friday. If
ther is no one to play with or time is short, your child should at least read
through the cards and try to answer the questions.
Please follow the directions on the back of the game. By following these
rules, the children will learn to be encouraging to others while playing the
game. I am stressing cooperation and kindness rather than competition.
I also ask that the game board NOT be taken out of the plastic envelope.
Hopefully this will help the games to last! Thank you for your cooperation.
