ABOUT THE TEACHER

Now beginning her eighteenth year teaching, Beth Thompson is passionate about helping children to connect personally with music. Her eighth year at Waterbury, she previously taught for ten years in Indian Prairie District 204 in Naperville and District 93 in Carol Stream. She has a passion for children's choirs, and was a conductor for the prestigious Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus (now called Anima) for 6 1/2 years. In 2005, she conducted a choral festival for the Wheeling School District. In 2006, she was a substitute teacher for a college-level class in elementary music education methods.

Mrs. Thompson is a graduate of the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree of Music Education with honors and has done graduate work at Rockford College, National-Louis University, and VanderCook College of Music. She was awarded the Level I certification from Dr. Doreen Rao’s Choral Music Institute (CME) and is certified in Orff Schulwerk Level I. She is currently in a Master's program at Olivet Nazarene University in School Leadership. She resides in the near northwest suburbs with her husband, her 18-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son.

FUN FACTS

Hobbies- Scrapbooking, making cards, reading
If I weren't a teacher, what would I be? I can't imagine not being a teacher! I used to play teacher with my friends when I was in Elementary School. I either wanted to be a Music Teacher or a German Teacher, but I chose Music, and I absolutely love it!
Favorite color - purple
Favorite food - chocolate
Favorite ice cream - mint oreo

Favorite music - I have so many favorites, I can't choose one type of music or song!
Favorite clothing store - Coldwater Creek

Favorite movie - Usually I prefer musicals, like "Phantom of the Opera" or "Les Miserables".

This was Oliver when we put a bow in his hair. He didn't know it was there- and when he was looking outside, we know the squirrels were laughing at him!
