Homework

Each day, your child will be given homework.  This homework will be a worksheet that is review of concepts covered in class for at least two days. The students will rarely take home a text book.  This prevents misplaced books. At the end of each school day, we will go over the homework directions and often even complete the first couple of questions together.  The students are free to ask questions at this time.  Your child should never go home without an understanding of the homework!  This homework will be kept in a Homework Folder.  This folder will contain any correspondence that needs to be brought home promptly as well as any homework.  The homework folder must be brought back to school each day.

Monday:  Spelling, read for at least 15 minutes, practice a few addition and subtraction facts, and do something fun to "recharge your battery!"

Tuesday:  Math, read for at least 15 minutes, practice a few addition and subtraction facts, and do something fun to "recharge your battery!"

Wednesday:  Spelling, read for at least 15 minutes, practice a few addition and subtraction facts, and do something fun to "recharge your battery!"

Thursday:  Math, read for at least 15 minutes, practice a few addition and subtraction facts, and do something fun to "recharge your battery!"

Friday:  Look at the papers in the Friday Folder, READ, and do something fun to "recharge your battery!"

Saturday:  READ! and do something fun to "recharge your battery!"

Sunday:  READ! and do something fun to "recharge your battery!"

FROG GAMES:

Each Wednesday, your child will receive a Frog Game.  This game teaches and reviews many language arts or math concepts.  Please play this game with your child on Wednesday and on Thursday.  Please return the game on Friday.

READING A-Z:readinga-z.jpg

Your child will also be receiving a "paper book" from http://www.readinga-z.com/.Some stories are fiction and others are nonfiction.  The books will be sent home in a plastic bag labeled with your child's name.  Your child should read this book MORE THAN ONCE in order to increase fluency.  This book is at his/her reading level.

If you feel that the book assigned to your child is too easy or too difficult, please write me a note and place it in his/her plastic bag.  A book will be given to students on Mondays.  They should return the book on Wednesdays.

STUDENT ASSIGNMENT PLANNER:

Each student will be given a School Assignment Planner.  Your child will write down assignments, projects, and other important information.  Please look it over each night and sign at the bottom of the page.  This plan book is also convenient for parent/teacher communication. If you have a quick question for me, feel free to write it in your child’s plan book.  I look at the plan books each morning and will reply at that time.  I will also call you if further explanation is needed to answer the question.
