My name is Karen Sabados. I am thrilled to be teaching third grade
again at Waterbury! We are going to have a wonderful year. Third grade will
be filled with many great experiences.
Here is some information about me! I was born in Japan and I have moved
ten times to various cities in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and most recently, to
Illinois. I graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I majored in
Early Childhood Education and earned a minor in Spanish. After college, I
moved back home to Saline, Michigan. I taught first grade and lived with my
parents, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters! A few years ago, I decided to relocate
to Illinois and was so lucky to be hired at Waterbury. This year will be my
eighth year! In March of 2008, I received my master’s degree from National-
Louis University. I now have my Reading Specialist certification. The
strategies I’ve learned in the program aide in helping your child to become
an even better reader and thinker.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, working out, going to movies, making
scrapbooks, and traveling with my husband, Chris. On June 16, we welcomed
our son, Michael, to our family. We have had a wonderful summer with him.
He is such a joy!
