Welcome to my web page. I am pleased to be able to share my background with you.
I received my Bachelor's Degree from Western Illinois University with a major in Child Development and a minor in Psychology. In 1994, I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Illinois University.
I have taught preschool, kindergarten, fourth grade, and fifth grade. Waterbury Elementary has been my home since 1998. This year, 2009-2010, marks my twelfth year in fifth grade! I truly enjoy teaching and working with children.
Goal: I want to provide a safe and positive environment where all children enjoy learning. Students are encouraged to work to their full potential, develop confidence in their abilities, and respect others. I believe all children can learn, and it is the teacher's responsibility to help children grow as life-long learners.
I feel very strongly that my classroom should be a bully-free zone. Therefore, I work to promote a positive, caring environment in the room. Children are encouraged to behave respectfully and responsibly towards everyone here at school. Within this supportive environment, I hope children will develop the foundations of strong moral character.
