This is my thirty-eighth year teaching in District 20. I began my career
teaching children who had learning disabilities. After spending three years
as a Special Educator, I began teaching second grade. Thirty-five years
later I am continuing to work with seven and eight year olds. I can honestly
say that I know this age very well!
I earned my Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership from St. Xavier
University in the spring of 2007. I enjoyed being back in school and learned
many new strategies that I am now using to help your child become a
successful learner.
I am married and have two grown daughters. My husband is a Psychotherapist
who works out of Elmhurst Hospital. What a challenging job he has! My older
daughter, Melissa, is 31 and is a pharmacist working in Geneva. My younger
daughter, Katie, works for Dupage Medical Group in Naperville and has now
returned to school in the program of Ultrasound.
I am a cat lover!! I have three cats at home that I have rescued from
shelters - Liberty, Tucker and a new kitten named Riley. What fun they are
to have around the house!
around!
I hope to instill a love of learning in each child that is in my classroom.
Being excited every day about reading new books, writing new stories and
learning to spell new words is my goal. I want each child to enjoy the many
different math activities we do every day and to love learning about the many
concepts we discuss in science and social studies. I also want each child to
know that they are a very special part of our classroom and that I look
forward to seeing them each and every day.
