I have taught first through fourth grades since 1978. I earned my
bachelor's and master's degrees from Northern Illinois University, and
attained National Board Certification in November of 2000.
I am married with three children. My husband and I have a son, Shawn (age
28), who spent 5 years in the Army. He completed two tours in Iraq, and is
home for good now. We also have two daughters (ages 23 and 20). My daughter,
Lauren, graduated from UIC and is now attending Harper College in Nursing,
while Allison is at Hoffman Estates High School (students with disabilities
can stay in high school until the age of 22). We have three orange cats named
Mango, Milo, and Sophie.

Favorite movies: There are so many movies I love: Sound of Music,
Princess Bride, Knight's Tale, Up, Wall-E, and Despicable Me.

Favorite exercise: riding my bike
Favorite snack: fruits and veggies

Favorite books: Reading is my favorite hobby. Poisonwood Bible is my all
time favorite book. I really enjoy mysteries and thrillers!
Favorite animals: I love animals! Otters, hedgehogs, and cows are 3 favorites.

The best advice you ever received: Learn from your mistakes!
My goal is for all of my students to enjoy learning, reading, and trying
new things. Mistakes are a part of learning and are valued for the lessons
they teach. I also would like to share my love of science and technology with
all of my students.
