Why is it important for my child to have a healthy snack?

A healthy snack provides students with the opportunity to
recharge their bodies and brains. Healthy foods like
crackers, pretzels, fruit, veggies, cheese, granola bars, and
cereal give students the added "brain boost" they need to finish
out their school day. We will have a mid-afternoon
snack this year. Cookies, chips, candy and other sweets are not
brain foods. Please do not send drinks (other than water) or
snacks packed in liquid (like fruit cups). Also, please remember
to send children with the utensils they need to eat their snacks.
Thank you.

If I have to pick my child up at the end of the school day?

Please send a note to school with your child or call the office
at (847) 984-8900 and let the secretaries know. Without a note or
a phone call, for safety reasons, your child will be sent home on
the bus.

How often should my child read at home?

In accordance with the district homework policy, students in 1st
grade should read for 15-30 minutes a night. This time may be
spent with the parent reading to the child or the child reading to
the parent. Starting in October, Reading Records will sent home
every day. These records should be returned to school each day.
