I am happy to be with Woodland for my 12th year this August 2011.
I was first hired in as a maternity leave replacement back in January 2000.
Since then I have had the opportunity to teach both 2nd and 3rd grade. I have
taught 3rd grade for seven of those years and 2nd grade for five years now.
I think 2nd and 3rd grades are some of the most fun years of learning, as
skills are able to be applied independently by the students plus we have
interesting topics in our various subjects.
Personally, I have a Master of Arts in Elementary Education and student
taught in first grade, subbed, and worked as a teacher's assistant for a
short time before starting at Woodland. I actually changed careers (coming
into Education after 15 years in Human Resources), but that is another story.
A native of the Chicago suburbs, my husband, Patrick, and I have lived in
Lindenhurst for over 15 years now. We enjoy birdwatching and nature hikes.
We also enjoy spending time with our dogs, Achilles and Hurricane, and cats.
During the summer we try to travel to and visit some of the National and State
Parks and Historical Sites, across the United States, in our RV. This summer
we stayed in the midwest- Wisconsin and Michigan- to visit many lighthouses
around Lake Michigan and Missouri and Arkansas- to visit some Civil War
battlefields in the Western Theatre. Even staying close, there is always so
much to see and learn in the states.
I look forward to hearing about what everyone in class did this summer too.
Here's to a GREAT school year ahead!
LEARNING IS A LIFE-LONG ADVENTURE!
