This is my fourth year teaching First Grade at Elementary East. I have a
Master's in Education from Trinity Graduate School and a Bachelor's in
Business from Carthage College. Prior to teaching, I served as the
marketing director for a local law firm. As much as I enjoyed the corporate
world, I had a strong desire to become a teacher. With my family's loving
patience and support, I went back to school to follow my dream. I
substitute taught during the day and I attended classes at night. I
obtained my teaching certification in May 2007 and my Master's in May 2008.
I've never been happier ... I love my new career and I love working with
children!
Not only am I a teacher, I am a wife and a mother. I live in District 50
with my husband Ken and our three beautiful children: Katie (12), Kerri (10),
and Kenny (8). Ken is a Lieutenant on the Highland Park Fire Department.
He just completed his 20th year of service.
My hobbies include digital photography, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, and
reading. I also love to go camping!
My Philosophy of Education is KIDS FIRST! I believe that every child should
be given the opportunity to succeed. I also believe that every child CAN
succeed. I do my best to make every minute of each day count in an academic
way.
I feel that it is very important to create a safe and nurturing learning
environment for all of my students. I want my students to feel "at home" all
of the time.
