Why does my child bring home library books that are too easy/hard, for him?

Children are allowed to pick their own books in the library. I
do not make them pick books at their specific reading level
because there are many different reasons for picking books.
Sometimes parents read these books to their child, or the child
may be picking a book to read to a younger sibling. As a result,
children are allowed to pick any books.

May I include minutes I read to my child on the weekly reading log?

No, I'm sorry, reading log minutes (reading homework) can only be
the time your child practices reading (orally or silently). It
is very important, however, that parents continue to read orally
to their children! It provides great modeling of reading,
children love to hear stories at most any age, and it shows your
child you value reading! Please don't stop (it just cannot be
counted as homework minutes)!

How do I send money (for my hot lunch account, field trips, etc.) to school?

For safety reasons, children are instructed to turn all money
into me at the beginning of the day. Please place any money you
send to school in an envelope. Write your child's name and the
purpose for sending the money on the front of the envelope. This
way, I can make certain your money gets to the right place.
Thank you!
