All children have the following homework Monday-Thursday:
1. Spelling: study spelling words.
2. Math Flash Cards: Your child will bring home flash cards to MEMORIZE.
They should be studied each night.
3. Reading: independently read for 15 minutes each night at your level
(This time will increase 5 minutes at the beginning of each new
quarter).
4. OPTIONAL: Homework calendar for each month.
Homework Tidbits:
*Homework should take no more than 30-45 minutes a night at the second grade
level.
*I certainly understand there may be times when reading homework just
cannot get done due to family commitments. If that should occur, please
have your son/daughter make up that time missed on another night.
*Homework, at the second grade level, is important because it sets the stage
for the larger amount of work to come in later years. If you take the time
to set a routine, find a place, and stress the importance of homework this
year, it will help keep homework problems to a minimum in later years.
Please let me know if your child is not cooperating in doing their
homework. We can work together to help solve this problem!
