What tools should my child have at home to be successful in school?
For LA: a dictionary and thesaurus
For math:a calculator and ruler
in general: good lighting and seating, pencil/eraser, and proper
sound level for your child. Colored pencils, crayons, and a glue
stick at home may also be helpful to finish work not completed in
class.
What do I do if my child is going to be absent?
You do need to call the office (847-596-5900) to report an
absence.
Do I need to pick up homework for my child when he/she is sick?
When a child is sick for 2 or more days, a parent may request to
pick up
homework in the office. Please call or e-mail me with your
request. Because
of my class schedule, I cannot get homework to the office before
noon.
Will my child go on any field trips this year?
Yes! We are going to a forest preserve in the Spring for our
science unit on
pond ecosystems. There will one other trip that is in the
planning stage now.
I forgot to put lunch money in my child's account. Will she get to eat?
Yes, even if there is no money in the account, the food service
will provide
a cold lunch.
Can my child bring in treats for his birthday?
Due to allergies within the Tiger Hall and the overall
nutritional health of
our students, I prefer that parents bring in non-food items to
celebrate.
Please contact me or the school nurse for ideas.
My child's birthday is in the summer. Will she have a chance to celebrate?
Yes, we celebrate summer birthdays during the last week of school.
How can my child earn a ROAR raffle ticket?
There are many ways to earn an award. They include:
* 1 weeks of turning in all homework
* having one's "paw" moved to "Outstanding Behavior"
* everyone in the class returning library books on time earns one
class award
* outstanding behavior that shows "above and beyond" consideration
for others
