Will we have homework everynight?

Yes. Every night you are required to read for at least 20 minutes and to
keep track on your reading record. You should also be studing you spelling
words for the week and practicing your math facts. Besides these three
things, you may get additional homework worksheets in math, science, social
studies and language arts. I try not to assigne homework on Fridays, but
sometimes there will be an assignment.

What is the LAW stamp?

L.A.W. stands for late assignment warning. When a student does not complete
a homework assignment from the night before, I will stamp LAW in the
assignment notebook over the missed assignment. This stamp allows the
parents to see if their child is getting all their homework done on time.
The student must turn it in the next day to get credit for the assignment.

What is the reading counts program?

A computer test that students may take voluntarily after reading a book. There
is a list in the classroom of the books that are available on the computer and
there is also a place on the school's website where you can check for books
that have tests.
( http://fmdb.dist50.net/ReadingCounts/BookSearch.html ) This is completely
optional but students will be awarded in my classroom when they reach certain
point values.

Do we write with pencil or pen?

I require math work and spelling tests to be done in pencil. Besides those, I
don't have a preference as to what writing utensil you use. You may use whatever you are most
comfortable with. I do allow and encourage mechanical pencils.
