When is the Home Reading Record due?
The Home Reading Record is due on Monday of each week, unless there is no
school. If we do not have school on Monday, it is due on Tuesday.
How many minutes a week do I need to read?
You should be reading between 100-120 minutes a week. You need to read
consistently for 15-20 minutes at a time, in a chapter book of your choice,
at your lexile level.
What is the GROW worksheet and when is it due?
GROW stands for Geography Review of the Week. It is due on Friday, unless
noted differently in the assignment notebook.
How much time do I need to spend on Social Studies a night?
You should be spending 10-15 minutes each night reading, reviewing, or studying
what we have covered in class that day. It is also recommended that you make flashcards
of the highlighted vocabulary words, people, and places to help you study for the tests.
What happens if I turn in my homework late?
Turning in late homework is strongly discouraged in fifth grade. If homework is not
completed on time, the student may complete the assignment at home and turn it in the
following class period. The assignment grade will be lowered by one letter grade or
ten points, whichever is applicable. If the assignment is not turned in, the assignment
will receive a zero.
