Books, Books, Books

Reading Logs are required of every student. Each 5 day school week, students
are assigned the task of reading 200 minutes. The reading log is assigned on
Monday and collected the following Monday (or Tuesday if there is no
school). Each reading log is worth 20 points, but only if it is signed by
parents and/or teachers. Parents can sign the reading log once, but it must
be at the bottom of all of the logged minutes. The official form can be
turned in, or students can feel free to use any paper they may have. On
weeks when there are less than 5 school days, students who are missing a
reading log can complete one for full credit. There is NO extra credit for
reading extra minutes, and there is no extra credit for completing a reading
log on a short week if a student is not missing one to begin with. All
reading counts-reading aloud to a younger sibling, magazines, newspapers,
novels, e-books, anything! Does homework count? Sometimes...if you are
assigned reading ONLY in a textbook or novel, that counts. If you are
assigned reading AND something you have to write or complete, that does not
count. If you have questions, please ask!
