What do I need to bring to class?
Every student should check the list outside my classroom door everyday! Basic
supplies that will be needed daily are a: binder, notebook, folder,
assignment notebook, and pen/pencil. Your binder, notebook, and folder should
contain only Language Arts materials.
How often do you give out homework?
Homework is a good way to practice what was learned in class and to review for
tests. I give out homework almost daily, and sometimes over the weekend.
Homework consists of reading, writing, classroom assignments, and projects.
What is the homework policy?
Since you will have homework in Language Arts almost daily, I expect homework
assignments to be completed on time. Also, show your best effort and quality.
Homework will be accepted late, but points will be deducted. Homework does
make up an important part of your grade, so completing assignments is a must!
What if I forgot what the homework is?
Your L.A. homework is written on the assignment notebook board daily, along
with your homework in other classes. You can also check the team room where
the daily assignments are
written for every class each day. My homework hotline is updated each day.
My website is also updated with current assignments. I often give out a
calendar with due dates for bigger projects. You may try calling me or a
friend, as well. There should be no excuses for not knowing the homework.
What if I don't understand the homework?
Please try calling me at school first. Leave a message if you can't reach me,
so that I know you made the attempt. If you can't get a hold of me, phone a
friend. You can also ask for help during advisory time. When
in doubt, attempt the homework the best you can.
Do I have to write in cursive?
Yes! Most assignments must be completed in final copy format, which is in
cursive or typed. If it is not written in cursive or typed, the assignment
will marked down or not be accepted.
Do I need my ID for class?
Yes! You need your ID for Language Arts when we visit the library to check
out books and novels. Without it, you will not be prepared for class. Please
keep it in a safe place! If it gets lost a new one can be bought for $5 in
the office.
What are the classroom incentives?
I reward my classes using the marble system. Each class will be rewarded
marbles based on classroom behavior, participation, preparedness, and homework
completion. When your class jar is filled, your class will be rewarded a
special activity or treat.
