Persuasive EssayParagraph 1: Introduction Use an anecdote, question, or shocking fact to gain the reader's attention. Then, state the main idea/topic sentence of your paper. This is often times a restatement of the prompt if one was given. Support this main idea with three reasons.
Paragraph 2: Body #1 State your first reason (as given in the first paragraph). Next explain three details/examples that support this reason and prove it to be true. Write a transition sentence from this to the next paragraph.
Paragraph 3: Body #2 State your second reason (as given in the first paragraph). Next explain three details/examples that support this reason and prove it to be true. Write a transition sentence from this to the next paragraph.
Paragraph 4: Body #3 State your third reason (as given in the first paragraph). Then explain three details/examples that support this reason and prove it to be true.
Paragraph 5: Rebuttal State a topic sentence for the other side of the argument. Write three objections that the opposite side has and after each one, give a rebuttal (tell why the objection is not valid). Then write a closing sentence.
Paragraph 6: Closing Restate the original opinion(from paragraph one) and end your paper powerfully by making a recommendation or prediction regarding the topic. |
