What do I bring to class?

A pocket folder, pencil or pen, and your assignment notebook with a signed 
internet agreement.

How often do we cook?

You have the opportunity to cook about 10 times in the rotation if all 
classroom work is completed.

What if I have food allergies?

Mrs. Crahan sends home a letter to parents on the first day of class 
informing them of class expectations and requesting medical information. There
are some accommodations that can be made. If the allergies are
critical, other class arrangements can be made.

What happens on the days we do not cook?

There is classroom work to do. Some of the many topics we cover are the food
pyramid / fats, sugar and salt / how to read a food label / fast food / meal
planning / food and kitchen safety / What shape is your food pyramid? / a
community service project / the digestive system / protein and carbohydrates

Can I do extra credit for Foods and Nutrition?

Yes, there are several different opportunities.

1. Prepare a recipe at home that you have never made before.
Complete the extra credit form (Bake It From Scratch) including parent
signature.

2. Prepare a nutritious meal for your family.
Complete the extra credit form (Family Meal) including parent signature.

3. Donate children's books (new or gently used) to be included in
our Kid's Korner community service project.
