What do I do if I'm absent from school?
You can check the homework hotlines to get a start on the work
you missed. If you are absent more than 3 consecutive days, call
your homeroom teacher's voice mail and we will put your books and
other work in the office for you to pick up.
How should I study for my Social Studies test?
1. Re-read the chapter a little each night.
2. Use the Notes and homework assignments to quiz yourself over
the important facts.
3. Fill out the study guide as completely as possible, too much
information is better than not enough!
Can I have extra credit?
There is extra credit offered every week in class for you to take
advantage of. If you don't know where to pick it up in the
classroom, ask a friend or Mrs. Osharow.
I lost my______________, can I have another one?
YES! Just ask Mrs. Osharow.
Some items may also be available in the "Handouts" section of
this website.
I don't know what my grade is, how can I find out?
First, check the grade board in the classroom or the family
access website offered by District 50. Grades are updated and
posted as often as possible. If you have questions, ask Mrs.
Osharow.
I have a question about why my grade is a ______. What do I do?
The student should ask Mrs. Osharow for a grade printout or make
a print out from family access. It will tell you each assignment
for the quarter thus far and what grades you received. It will
also let you know if you have missing assignments or if a low
test/quiz/project is lowering your average grade.
How long should I spend on my homework each night?
The Woodland School Board recommends that 6th-8th graders spend
60-90 minutes a night on homework. That is the combined time for
all four subjects and exploratory but NOT including long term
project work.
What is the Civilizations Project?
This project is a researched based project that ALL 6th graders
at Woodland complete. Each Social Studies teacher does it a
little differently but it involves researching, writing about,
and presenting information about one of the 7
civilizations we study. Do not worry too soon! We will begin this project in
December and take it one piece at a time!
May I work ahead on my civilizations project?
NO! If you think you are ready to work ahead, you need to talk
to Mrs. Osharow one-on-one! You may not have all the
instructions you need to begin the projects.
Why can't I move ahead on my civilizations project?
Mrs. Osharow will need to speak with you before you move on.
There are specific lessons in class, and very detailed
instructions, that correspond with each section of the project.
Use any extra time you have to make sure that your current work
is excellent instead of ordinary.
