What do I do if my child is sick?
If you know your child will not be in school, please call the
attendance line at 847-984-8701 and leave a message with your
child's name, my name as the classroom teacher, and why he/she
will be absent. They will then notify me of your child's absence.
You do not need to call my phone as well.
Can I pick up my child from school (versus taking the bus)?
If a child is scheduled to take the bus, the only way that he or
she can be picked up is if a note is supplied from home for that
day. Otherwise, the child will be sent home on the bus.
How can I help in my child's classroom?
There are several ways that a parent can help within the
classroom. Below is a list of how you can help. Please contact me
if you would like to help in any way.
* Room Parent - Rooms parents are needed to help coordinate and
run the parties for our classroom throughout the school year.
There will be three parties during the year.
* Helping from home - I am always looking for parents to help
"trace" objects onto paper for upcoming projects. This is
something you can do at home and is very quick and easy.
* Memory Books - at the end of the school year, each student
receives a memory book filled with projects from throughout the
year. I need help in assembling these memory books. This help
would have to be done at school (only because the books are big
and bulky).
* Centers - During the week, I do centers within the classroom.
If you would like to volunteer to come in and help with these,
please let me know.
* Help with certain students - I am always looking for parents
who can come in and work with a small group of students on basic
skills. If you think you can come and play games, work on star
words, letters, number recognition, and of course a lot more -
please let me know.
Even if you can only come in once a month, please let me know.
The more help we have within the classroom, the better it is for
everyone.
How do I use the Rotation Schedule?
The rotation schedule is there so that you will know what
"special" your child will be having each day. If your child has
GYM, you may want to dress them for running around and make sure
they wear gym shoes (otherwise, they have to change their shoes).
This is also a great way to talk with your child about his/her
day and ask about events from the day.
How can you contact me?
The school office phone number is 847-984-8700. The school
attendance line to report your child sick is 847-984-8701. The
phone number for Room 3 is 847-984-8744. I will not answer the
phone when students are within the classroom so you will have to
leave a message in my voicemail and I will call you back as soon
as I can. You can also e-mail me at lrogers@dist50.net. I check e-
mail every evening in addition to during the day.
What do I do if we will be on vacation during school?
If you are planning a vacation, please let the office attendance
line know as soon as you have it scheduled. This way, they can
get attendance updated. Also, please send me a note as well so
that I will know. I can send a "vacation journal" for your child
to write in while on vacation.
