Should I be checking my child's take home folder nightly?

Yes, please. There are important messages sent home, and we want 
to keep you 
informed.
The children would also like to share their work with you. Please 
go over 
their work sent home to reinforce the important concepts.

Strategies for reading:
Sound out the word-take it in chunks
Read the sentence, skipping any word not recognized and then go
