You have been give a Homework Folder with a schedule inside
and a schedule to be kept at home. This folder should be brought back and
forth to school with completed homework inside. This is STANDARD HOMEWORK.
Additional assignments may be given if you do not complete an in
class assignment or you need extra practice on a particular skill.
* NOTE: Since we work at different levels, you may have a different number of
vocabulary words to learn each week. I will tell you which words you are
responsible for if your number is decreased. Of course, you can always try to
learn more!!
MONDAY
1. Look up your new vocabulary words in a dictionary,either hand held or
online, and write the meaning.
2. Complete Reading Comprehension worksheet.
3. Read for twenty minutes. You should be reading a book from the genre of
the month.
TUESDAY
1. Study your new vocabulary words. Ask a parent,friend, brother, or sister
to test you. Use the words in a sentence. Highlight or underline your
vocabulary word used in the sentence.
2. Complete Reading Comprehension worksheet.
3. Read for twenty minutes. You should be reading a book from the genre of
the month.
WEDNESDAY
1. Illustrate your new vocabulary words. The pictures you make will help you
learn the words. Your test will be on Friday.
2. Complete Math Worksheet.
3. Read for twenty minutes. You should be reading a book from the genre of
the month.
4. Find a Current Event from newspaper,online news, magazine article. Cut
the article/story out and attach it to your summary. After reading the
article/story write a report that includes the answers to the questions you
have been given. The article/story summary is due on Friday.
THURSDAY
1. Study your new vocabulary words. There will be a weekly test on Friday.
Your test will be given to you individually so be sure you study. Use the
strategies we have learned to help you remember each word.
2. Work on and complete your Current Event. Be sure to cut out and attach
the article/story to your summary. You will present your article on Friday to
the class. Extra credit will be given to students who complete more than one
article.
FRIDAY
1. Use the weekend to work on your genre reading/book report for the month.
Choose one response from the "other ways to respond to books" paper I have
given you. You can then share the book you read with others in a way that is
comfortable for you.
2. SPECIAL PROJECTS will be assigned during the school year. Please be
aware of due dates. You are given several weeks to complete projects
giving time to complete high quality work.
NOTE: Additional homework will be assigned. You are responsible for
remembering what was assigned and for handing in the work when it is due.
