Week of 12/14/09 - 1/8/10
Our current social studies area of study is China. We have been working
with an informational activity book in class. This involves map and language
arts skills. If you would like your child to bring it home you are welcome
to do so, just be sure to return it the next day because we will be using
them in class.
We are waiting for a reply to our pen pal letters to our partner school in
Arizona. It is located on a Native American reservation. How interesting it
was to speak with children from another state! Most of them haven't ever
seen snow! We can't wait to hear from them. They had some interesting
questions for us.

We are going to be moving on to the concept of counting money next in math.
Our activities will include using the previous skills we have developed to
this point. We will be counting coins, using word problem solving skills,
and also playing store. We will continue with rocket math and our daily word
problems as well.
The snoozeum field trip is the 22nd and 23rd of January. We're looking
forward to this exciting opportunity!
I am proud of the phonics skills we have been learning! We're about to
retire 2 more of our phonics rules from our interactive bulletin board. Once
we learn a rule we move it to the "retirement community" with the other
skills we have mastered. After break we will have a new color poster with
fresh new concepts.
