Years of Teaching Experience: 13 years

My name is Julie Anderson and I am one of the middle school teachers. I am
also teaching fifth grade math this year.

My previous positions have been a Reading Recovery and Title One Teacher for
seven years and a Literacy Coach for one year. I have gathered wonderful
experiences and a wealth of knowledge in how students learn. I look forward
to working with your children and helping them grow in their learning.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University.
I continued on to receive my Master's Degree from Indiana Wesleyan
University in Education.

While teaching, I have written and received several grants. Many of these
grants enabled me to attend special trainings in Reading Recovery, Guided
Reading, Four Blocks, Building Blocks, and Literacy Coaching. The Literacy
Coach training allowed me to observe and aid classroom teachers in
strengthening their Reading and Writing programs.

Mrs. Labovic and I have written two grants for the BP Corporation
and received both of them. Classroom televisions were installed in addition
to special cables that enables the teacher's computer monitor to be displayed
on the flat screen televisions or pull-down white screens.

Currently, I teach social studies and writing to all middle school students.
I truly enjoy both subjects and love to find outside sources for information
in both areas. My goal is to make the students' learning an experience. I
want the information to "stick". Students leaving Mrs. Labovic's and my
classroom will be equipped with a wealth of knowledge and strategies to help
make them successful in school and in life.
