Material for 1st grade is presented in the form of a workbook, handouts, videos, songs, dance, games, use of puppets, and verbal communication. Additionally, when the children have field trips/special events, the vocabulary learned will reflect their event.
In 1st grade they will also learn to read and write simple sentences in Spanish. The themes learned this year are:
Greetings, colors, numbers, shapes, school, family, vocabulary of the head, home, clothing, food, animals, farm, instruments and places to go.
The overall goal for the 1st grade students is that, at the end of the year, most of the children will be able read, write, pronounce and translate simple sentences.
If you would like more specifics, please feel free to contact me. I'd love to share more of the fun ways in which the children acquire their new language.
