ENLIGHTENMENT

8th Enlightenment: In order to receive enlightenment points you must show the original question along with a step-by-step answer showing your work. You may complete up to 3 of the following choices for points....

ALGEBRA & PREALGEBRA...(the ^ means exponent)

Choice 1: Factors in Geometry- The area of a rectangle is 84 square inches. The length and width are both whole numbers. A. List all the possible deminsions of the rectangle. B. What is the minimum perimeter that the rectangle can be? C. What is the maximum perimeter?

Choice 2: Factoring- Write a four term polynomial that can be factored by grouping. Then factor the polynomial.

Choice 3: Geometery- A rectangle has an area of

x^2 + 14x + 24 square.  If the width is (x + 2), find the expression of the length.

Choice 4: Challenge: Factor (4y - 5)^2 + 3(4y - 5) - 70 (hint..fast forward then rewind a different way)

Choice 5: A. What is the value of D that would make the binomial result in the perfect square trinomial given in part B?... (5x - D)^2. B. What is the value of C that would make the polynomial a perfect square trinomial?... 25x^2 - 90x + C.

7th ENLIGHTENMENT: In order to receive enlightenment points you must show the original question along with a step-by-step answer showing your work. You may complete up to 3 of the following choices for points....

Choice 1: Create a sequence of 5 numbers that each start at 20 but one is arithmetic, one is geometric, and one is neither. Identify each sequence and the common ration or common difference.

Choice 2: Write a real-world situation that can be set up and solved by using an inequality. Be sure to define your variable and then show your solution. Write a summary statement describing your solution.

Choice 3: Look on page 472 at #26 in your textbook. Write the function rule for each of the given function tables.

Choice 4: Graph the ordered pairs (0,9), (2, 4), and (4, -1). Find the slope in two ways: A. Using RISE/RUN from the graph. B. Using y2-y1/x2-x1. Did you get the same value for the slope? Explain.

Choice 5: Graph the following three equations using the m and the b. A. y = 2x + 4, B. y = 2x + 2, C. y = 2x - 3. What do you notice about these lines? Could this pattern have been found just by looking at the equations? Explain
