7th Grade Class News

We have been having a great year in science! We have been learning about
earthquakes and volcanoes and soon we will start looking at minerals and
rocks. I can't wait until we start working on the rock cycle comic book!

Also coming up is the Science Fair. We will have more information on that
later this week, but if you are ready to begin working on your project please
let me know and Mr. Cole will give you more details

*****Extra Credit******
There are two options for extra credit. You may do either option, but you
may only do one option not two. Both options are due Monday 11-16-09 and are
worth +2%

Option 1
Make a working model of a volcano. You can model it off of an actual volcano
or use your imagination, either way it needs to look like an actual volcano.
It can be a model of any one of the three kinds of volcanoes. Your volcano
can be made of different types of materials, but needs to erupt like an
actual volcano.

Option 2
Research the devastating explosion of Krakatoa in 1883. Please type up a
short paper explaining the type of volcano that Krakatoa was, and why and how
it erupted. Talk about the different parts of the eruption and its effects
on the surrounding area. Also include descriptions of the way that this
eruption effected life and society around the world. One full page typed and
double spaced.
