Monday, March 26, 2012 8R & 8W: TSWBAT read, discuss, and analyze Langston Hughes poetry that is relevant to the 1920's and 30's time period and the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. TSWBAT review the novel, TKAM, chapters 1- 15. Quiz on the chapters and characters. TSWBAT define courtroom terminology in preparation for chapters 16 - 23 in TKAM. Activities: SSR, Book Talks, Quiz, Computers - dictionary.com, and Discussion Homework: TKAM quiz - 8W Langston Hughes - Analyzing poetry - WS 7L: TSWBAT review grammatical conventions using facts from The Diary of Anne Frank. (Semi-colons, quotations, end punctuation and commas) TSWBAT review introductions and pulling details from text to complete their bully-victim paper. TSWBAT work in lit. circle groups and discuss and determine how the group presentations and projects will be divided. Activities: SSR, Book Talks, Grammatical Errors, and Writers' Workshop Homework: Read chapter 13 - The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Bully/Victim paper is due tomorrow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tuesday, March 27, 2012 8R & 8W: TSWBAT review chapters 12-15. Written quiz. TSWBAT review courtroom terminology and start reading chapter 16 - TKAM. TSWBAT discuss and identify literary devices in the poems, "I, Too, Sing America" and "A Dream Deferred": similes, imagery, personification, and metaphors. TSWBAT define and identify pronouns and their functions. - 8W Activities: SSR, Book Talks, Written Quiz, Oral Reading, and Pronoun Identification Homework: Read chapter 16 - TKAM Complete/define courtroom terminology Extra Credit poem or illustration 7L: TSWBAT identify and discuss the bully or victim from the literature circle novel. TSWBAT define and identify nouns. TSWBAT work with their literature circle group : individual and group projects. Activities: Literature Circle Groups, Noun Identification, and Oral Presentations. Homework: Read chapter 14 - The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Individual Project #2 - due on Thursday, March 29 (Lit. book project). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wednesday, March 28, 2012 8R & 8W: TSWBAT review chapter 12 - 15 quiz/TKAM - 8W TSWBAT identify and review the functions of a noun - Object Overload. Activities: SSR, Book Talks, and Noun Functions HM: Read chapter 17 - TKAM Complete the ws- Object Overload - 8R only! 7L: TSWBAT identify nouns and their functions. TSWBAT work on their individual and group projects in their literature circles. Activities: SSR, Book Talks, and Literature Groups HM: Individual Project #2 due tomorrow Choose five sentences from the noun worksheet and label the nouns' functions.
