News from the gym!

All students have been working on rhythmic movement.  Kindergarten through Sixth grade used  the C'motion Dance Unit.  This system is like dance dance revolution for schools.  It has students track an arrow which floats from the bottom of a monitor to a series of flashing arrows on the beat of the music.  The goal is to touch the corresponding arrow on an electronic pad when the two arrows overlap.  Third through Sixth grade wore pedometers and recorded each day how many steps they took during class.  They also recorded their working heart rate.  We will talk more about heart rates though out the remainder of the year.

Fifth through Eighth grade are doing line dancing, circle dances and square dancing,  in conjunction with Mrs. Hill's music classes.
These students should be able to hit the dance floor and show you their moves at your next family gathering.  A few of the dances we have worked on are:  Cha Cha Slide; Electric Slide; Maccarana; and the YMCA.

We will be moving into my most requested unit in February, basketball/ball handling.
