WELCOME TO ST. JOE KINDERGARTEN!
December 7th - December 11th
Welcome to Vowel Ee Week!
Language Arts: This week Kindergarten will explore the book Sheep in a Jeep by Nancy Shaw.
We will use our schema to connect to the text while developing our phonemic awareness of rhyming.
Students will begin to understand onomatopoetic words, words that an author uses for sounds, as
we create a classroom word chart.
We will add to our Popcorn Balls of Knowledge vocabulary while discussing the words: sheep, jeep,
steer, cheap, and steep. In writing center, we will concentrate on word choice, organization, and
conventions.
Math: We will continue our number books as we focus on number sense and number formation.
Students will be introduced to a simple memory game using dominoes and visual perception.
Science: We will experiment with reptile eggs. YIKES!
PLEASE make sure to send your child DRESSED for the weather! We go outside for recess everyday!
PLEASE continue to work on shoe tying, buttoning and zipping.
We continue to learn about God as a Creator, the Holy Family, and
stories of Jesus' life. Please make sure to talk to your child about their
special "word of Faith" and
prepare them to share. Everyday we will choose a rock and discuss how it can
help us build our
classroom on a a rock like Jesus build his Church on a rock.
All believers are joined into this church by faith in Jesus Christ his savior,
the same rock on which
Jesus said he would build his church.- Matthew 16:18
God Bless,
Mrs. Bassett and Mrs. Lamie
PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD'S FOLDER EVERYDAY!
Many students are bringing back
folders filled with papers and important notes.
HOME LINKS: These will be sent home on Monday. After you complete it please
send it back with
your child and SIGN the worksheet identifying that you completed it with your
child.
Each classroom keeps a running record of completed home links. Thanks for
your cooperation and
HAVE FUN WITH EVERYDAY MATH!
