I am a graduate of Kansas State University (Go Wildcats!). After graduating
I worked at a school in Manhattan, KS as a Title I Reading Teacher. I was hired at Amelia Earhart as a
full-time 4th grade teacher and and have now moved to 3rd grade and couldn't be happier!
In my classroom I hope to bring to your child a sense of safety and fun. In
doing this I have expectations for the students to follow. They need to raise their hand to speak; no
shouting out, have all materials cleared off of desk for instruction and to be seated at their desk.
Along with these are the other appropriate behaviors that should be followed throughout the school.
Our classroom has also added Encore recess to our schedule. This is a privilege and if a student
does not meet the classroom or school expectations Encore will be taken away.
To help the students learn to work as a team I will also use WOW
cards. These are earned as a class by receiving compliments from other
teachers/substitutes about their behavior or if I feel that they have earned
one. Whenever the class earns 10 WOW’s then they will participate in a WOW
party, such as having an extra thirty minutes of recess, playing games on
the laptops or other activities of their choice.
Last year was a great year of teaching for me and I know my first year in 3rd grade will be even
better!
