Renaissance

Our Mission

The Ottawa High Renaissance Program serves to promote academic achievement and growth, while also encouraging character development. The programs sponsored through Renaissance exist to recognize and reward students and faculty, making Ottawa High a positive environment for all individuals. Incentives & Programs

 WEEKLY      
End-Of-Week Drawing Last day of ea.
school week 
Two students' names will be picked each week. If that student has no points
on the discipline system as well as no unexcused absencesor tardies, they will
be called to the office. If the student can then show that they have been using
their planner to record academic inforamtion, they will recieve that week's
cash prize.
See posting on the Renaissance board at OHS for additional details. This drawing acts as a progressive jackpot with a $25.00 cap.
       
 MONTHLY      

 Student & Faculty
Member of the
Month

 End of the month Faculty and Staff will have the opportunity to nominate students for the
monthly drawing; faculty & staff award will be conducted via
administration.  
Recipients will be recognized with a certificate and prize.

Scholarship
 August 26th
Deadline
 Juniors and seniors enrolled in dual credit classes via NCCC can apply for the American Eagle Outfitters Foundation Scholarship through OHS Renaissance. One or two students will be selected to have their tuition for one dual-credit course durring the fall 2010 semester paid in full. *See application for additional details.  
       
 SEPTEMBER      
 Rewards Cards Early
September 
GPA  Based (3.0 up) using the prior semester's performance assuming the student had no points on the discipline system. These cards are valid for the fall
semester and provide students with discounts at area businesses.
 Fall Dance  September Renaissance Council will host a themed fall dance to serve
as a fundraiser for the group.
 
 Evening of
Excellence
Late September  Students earning a 3.5 GPA and no points on the discipline system for the previous semester will be formally recognized at this banquet.    

 OHS Wall
Of Honor

 Mid September Students will assist in the activities surrounding the school's wall of honor functions.  
       
 DECEMBER

Awards
  Recognition awards are sent to students who have no tardies or unexcused absences for the semester.

Potato Bar
Fundraiser
 Mid to Late February Renaissance council hosts its annual Potato Bar Fundraiser at OHS, welcoming the community to come out and support the program.    
       
APRIL    

Rewards Picnic

 Mid to Late April  Students earning a 3.0 GPA (or higher) for the previous semester or improving their GPA by .5 between the previous two semesters qualify to attend this rewards picnic, assuming they have no points on the discipline system. Students qualify for tickets based upon their GPA; these tickets can be entered into drawings for prizes.  
     

 

 MAY      
 Day @ The K  Early May Renaissance Council Members and students with perfect attendence attend
a royals game in Kansas City.
 

 Piotrwski Memorial Scholarship

 Mid May One graduating senior will be awarded this scholarship
in conjunction with OHS Renaissance.
