I am in my fourth year as a Resource teacher for grades K-6. This is
my second year at Pleasant Hill, and my fourth year in the district; I was a
resource teacher at Rochester Elementary for two years. Prior to completing my
teaching program at Washburn, I worked as a Paraprofessional with students
with different disabilities for 5 years. I have wanted to work in the area of
special education since I as in Jr. High, with great influence from my mother
who is an Adapted Physical Education teacher in California. I was born and
raised in California before coming to Kansas as a student athlete at the
University of Kansas. Needless to say I am a strong Jayhawk fan!! I
finished my Master's degree, through Washburn University, in Special Education
over the summer.
I have known my husband, John, for 12 years, 5 of which we have been married.
We do not have children at this time, but we do have a very spoiled miniature
Dachshund.
I am excited to be teaching in an area that I feel passionate about and will
continue to strive to build upon my professional knowledge to best provide my
students with the best educational experience possible.
To provide struggling learners with individualized support to help them become
stronger learners and individuals who excel, in their own individual way, at
all that they do. I work with extraordinary students who brighten my life
each day and show me the true meanings of learning and to not forget to stop,
take a deep breath, laugh a little, and not take everything too seriously. :-)
I love my job and the students that I get to interact with on a daily basis.
I look forward to another wonderful year at Pleasant Hill.
